Powering My Projects With Lenovo Legion and GeForce RTX 4060

Lenovo Legion Slim 5

I recently purchased a Lenovo Legion Series laptop to support many of the projects I plan to take on. My old laptop was fine for micro electronics, basic tasks, and even managed to run Roblox Studio, but it was so old I couldn’t run Blender. So, it was time to spend some money and upgrade.

Since a lot of what I’m planning to focus on involves 3D and AI development, plus I wanted a laptop as close to $1,000 as I could get, I needed to plan my purchase carefully.

NVIDIA Studio is a core part of my future exploration, so I aimed for the highest level GeForce RTX GPU I could get for a reasonable price. Obviously the rest of the laptop had to be decent all around. What’s the point of getting a powerful graphics card when you have a crappy screen?

I knew Lenovo makes a solid PC and they happened to have the Lenovo – Legion Slim 5 16″ Gaming Laptop WQXGA – Ryzen 7 7840HS with 16GB Memory – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8GB – 512GB SSD – Storm Grey on sale for $1,149.00 at BestBuy, normally $1,529.00. It was the perfect balance of quality and power and landed close enough to my budget that I made the jump!

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 GPU with 8GB vRAM

The GeForce RTX 4060 wasn’t the RTX 4090 I was hoping for to support training models like SDXL, but it does everything else! It even comes in at the low end of NVIDIA’s Creative Maestro GPU scale, which I felt met my needs.

Great Job, Lenovo!!

I have to say, I LOVE THIS LAPTOP! It’s built like a sleek tank, handles huge 3D scenes in Roblox Studio with no problem, and I love how the keys light up.

I will be able to generate images with a local build of SDXL 1.0 in 20-30 seconds, once I can separate from Roblox long enough to get that set up.

Add becoming a “Creative Maestro” in NVIDIA Studio, I’ve got quite the project backlog going!
